Pathway after Junior Hockey
For those transitioning from Junior Hockey and aspiring to join the senior Wolves, playing summer hockey with the Wolves offers the best opportunity to transition smoothly into being a senior Wolf. EOIs are typically shared around August, so keep an eye out for them and follow the Melbourne Ice Wolves on social media.

IHV SUMMER SEASON
The IHV Summer Season runs approximately from October to April. There is no draft for this season, and players are free to play for any team they choose. If drafted by a club for the IHV Winter Season, you are still free to play for any team during the summer. This season offers a great opportunity to get involved with the Melbourne Ice Wolves Seniors. Players aged 15 at any time this year, up to December 31st, are eligible to play IHV Summer Season.
IHV WINTER SEASON
The IHV Winter Season features 6 teams in Premier A and 7 teams in Senior B, C, and D, each representing a senior club. For the men's winter league, a draft skate will be held. Clubs can discuss drafting with players, but there is no guarantee of being drafted by a particular club. Trading between teams is allowed between seasons.
WINTER WOMEN"S LEAGUE
The women's league is open to all women, with a note that all IHV leagues welcome trans and non-binary players to participate in the league that best aligns with their gender identity. Melbourne Ice Wolves, along with Demons, Jets, and Sharks, have women's teams. This season runs concurrently with the winter season.
MELBOURNE ICE AND MELBOURNE ICE WOMEN'S TRYOUTS
Teams like Melbourne Ice and Melbourne Ice Women hold tryouts at the start of their respective seasons. Sometimes these tryouts are by invitation only. We recommend following their social media or contacting the teams directly for tryout information.
IceHQ Pro League
IceHQ also operates their Pro League, with a drafted league run in-house. The women's Pro League runs in winter, and the men's Pro League runs in summer. Stay updated on the IceHQ Hockey Players pages for tryout and league information.
Beer League at IceHQ
For those interested in the Beer League at IceHQ, there is no official Wolves presence. Contact the Beer League via their Facebook page for more information: https://www.facebook.com/iceHQbeerleague.
